Oak Green Shopping Parade, Four Marks
Client: Four Marks Parish Council
Background
The Oak Green Parade shopping area in Four Marks had become tired and unattractive. The raised timbers planters were decaying, the macadam car park was insufficient in size and the general condition of the site had deteriorated over the years. The Parish council sought a contractor to carry out regeneration works. Scandor submitted a tender for the works and were awarded the contract in the spring of 2017.
Our Role
Scandor were appointed as main contractor for the project which commenced in June 2017. Works consisted of the following:
- Demolition of wooden sleeper structure
- Construction of concrete reinforced brick faced planters with flint blocks
- Replacement bollards
- Plane off and relay macadam to car park
- Line marking parking bays
- Soft landscape planting works
Challenges
Working within a busy retail area that had to remain open and accessible for shoppers as well as parking created challenges for the team as they needed to minimise the area of works.
The need to get materials in and waste away from the site had to be carefully scheduled.
