Pirates Ahoy

A pirate ship, quayside and loads of kids, how good is that?

It is so good to have a head teacher with drive, energy and insight; a landscape department at Hampshire County Council with imagination and with Scandor to build - the result, an outside classroom to inspire young minds.

This was a first for Scandor - a plastic boat with timber uprights to for the shape and clad with bright blue recycled plastic wood effect decking and also an interesting multi-level deck, with sails to create shade.

This project was very much a team initiative involving Hampshire County Council, the school and Scandor. We needed to be flexible with the scheme, allowing for changes e.g. levels, fixings and amendments to design. Our advice was taken on board! And it is because of the good communication between all parties that this outside classroom has become an invaluable area for active minds.

It was great to see the excitement on the children's faces when the barriers came down.
