COURTYARD - Cove School, Farnborough
A totally redundant courtyard which had no drainage facility was revamped after installation of an automatic drainage system.
A three metre deep holding tank was installed under difficult conditions and connected to a Pimms surface-water pumping station. This system automatically pumps surplus water out of the courtyard and disperses it in a swale, also constructed by Scandor, in the school playing field fifty metres away.
The surviving Birch tree featured in the centre of circular feature with surrounding brick/timber seating with paving and steps. The secondary school pupils and staff now enjoy a pleasing space at break-time.
